What is Mangal Dosha?
Mangal Dosha is said to occur when Mars sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of a chart. Because these are five of twelve houses, a large share of people have it in some form.
When the dosha is cancelled
Classical texts list many cancellations, so a careful reading is essential before drawing conclusions.
- Mars in its own sign or exalted.
- Both partners having a similar Mars placement.
- Strong benefic aspects on Mars or the 7th house.
Gentle remedies
Remedies should never be fear-based or expensive. Common suggestions include reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, fasting on Tuesdays if health permits, and channelling Mars energy into sport or service.
